this is a chronicle of the process of making a series of composite 4x5 camera bodies. it will be a limited-edition of between five and ten.
I have disposed of my longtime aversion to using computers to aid me in the design of a camera… party due to the nagging of convincing friends who work in fabrication and mainly due to my cousin’s willingness to take my little project as a way to learn 3-D design software. thanks to her I’m able to do the making part entirely by hand but in a shape that I could never create on a conventional machine.
these will be extremely lightweight 4x5 bodies that use a 135mm (slightly wide) lens in a custom helical focus mount. my most versatile design based on my well-tested “loaner” camera.
